Azita Arvani
Principal, Arvani Group, Inc.

Azita Arvani has nearly two decades of experience in senior-level assignments across a variety of communications and software markets, including wireless services, mobile commerce, multimedia, handheld computing, digital rights management, networking, and document management systems. Through her consulting company, Arvani Group, Azita works closely with executives of major companies from international mobile carriers to device manufacturers to software vendors and supports them to expand to new markets, develop partnerships, and create and execute business strategies. Some recent clients include: DoCoMo USA Labs, PalmSource, Casio, Xerox Business Research Group, and Swedish Trade Council, among others. Azita holds an MS in Management from Stanford University (Sloan Fellow), an MS in Computer Science from USC(Honors) and a BS in Math/Computer Science (Magna Cum Laude) from UCLA. She is an active member of Southern California Software Council and a former board member of Institute of Management Consultants, Southern California chapter.

Robert Brownstone
Practice Technology Manager, Fenwick & West

Robert D. Brownstone is the Practice Technology Manager at Fenwick & West LLP, a 250 attorney Silicon-Valley-based law firm specializing in providing a wide array of services to high technology and life sciences companies. He is a member of four state bars and the Information Systems Auditing and Control Association (ISACA). Mr. Brownstone is a nationwide speaker and writer on law and technology issues arising from eDiscovery, Information-Security and Compliance. He collaborates with clients and colleagues to assess and implement technology solutions for client-matters. Mr. Brownstone is the traffic cop for the Fenwick & West Practice Support Team (FWPS), which received the 2005 ALM Award for Most Innovative Use of Technology by a Law Firm for its FIND approach to eDiscovery. He is active in the firm's Electronic Information Management (EIM), Litigation and Privacy & Information-Security Groups. Mr. Brownstone trains clients, attorneys and staff in using software and in specialized areas of the law. Prior to joining Fenwick in 2000, Mr. Brownstone had a varied 13-year career as a litigator, law school administrator, law school teacher and consultant. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School in 1986.   Mr. Brownstone received his B.A. from Swarthmore College.

Enterprise Architect, Cingular Wireless

William CroccaMr. Crocca has over thirty years experience in technology industry. His roles have included Product eMarketing, System Architecture, Research and Development, Software Engineering, and Imaging Technology. Currently he is a member of the Enterprise Architecture team for Cingular, with emphasis on Transportation and Digital Rights Management. He received the Smithsonian Award for Technology Innovation for creating the first Digital Library system.Mr. Crocca’s diverse experience ranges from tenures at Cingular, Xerox, andEAI to entrepreneurial ventures with startup companies MicroSystemsInternational, where he served as founder and CTO, and WTC Associates, where he served as founder and Director of Marketing. Mr. Crocca continues to provide pro bono guidance to regional not-for-profit organizations, helping them to expand, promote, and manage effectively their service offerings in the community.

Jason Elizaitis
Director of IT, Fairfield Greenwich Group

Jason Elizaitis, Director of Information Technology, manages Fairfield Greenwich Group's (FGG ) technology team and the firm's global network, and is responsible for IT development. He joined FGG in 2003 after seven years of supporting information systems and providing product development for various healthcare providers and technology consultants in New York. He has studied at Carnegie Mellon University and Hofstra University and is based in the New York office.

Arny Epstein
CTO, Liquid Machines - Information Security and Inter-Enterprise Collaboration

Arny was most recently a co-founder and CTO of SilverStream Software. At SilverStream, he evaluated SilverStream's technical opportunities and investments and managed the technical end of strategic partnerships. Arny also provided leadership and consistency of architecture across the SilverStream product line. Prior to SilverStream, Arny was the CTO at Watermark Software, where he was responsible for Watermark's close relationship with Microsoft as well as the architecture of Watermark's highly successful product line. Prior to Watermark, Arny was Chief Architect at Lotus Development Corporation, and was responsible for a number of products including LotusScript, Lotus 1-2-3/G (for OS/2) and Lotus Manuscript. Arny has been writing commercial software since 1965. He holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from MIT and, while at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, contributed to the creation of data analysis techniques in the field of experimental X-ray astronomy.

George Everhart
Chief Executive Officer, SealedMedia Inc.  

With large corporate as well as start-up successes to his credit, George Everhart is uniquely qualified to fill SealedMedia’s top post as CEO. SealedMedia has quietly vaulted to the number one spot, as market and technology leader, in the enterprise digital rights management space. Previously, as President and CEO of OneSecure Inc., Everhart directed the company’s growth in the US, UK and Japan, facilitating its acquisition by NetScreen Technologies. Everhart served nine years at Apple Computer , leading the charge in senior executive positions such as Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Business and Government Sales. From there, he was recruited as President and CEO of Fujitsu PC Corporation, where he grew the company to a $400 million operation in just three years. And, as Senior Vice President of World Wide Sales and Service at 3Com, Everhart implemented new systems for tracking and analyzing worldwide sales, and successfully restructured the company’s OEM business from regional to worldwide.


Trent Henry

Martin Lambert

Martin Lambert has successfully created and delivered cutting-edge technologies throughout his career. He began developing the SealedMedia technology in 1996 after he recognized that a rigorous but flexible protection mechanism was required to realize the potential of distributing commercially sensitive or valuable content on the Internet. Prior to founding SealedMedia, Martin was the senior software engineer of Imperial Software Technologies Ltd in the UK, where he created complex Java-development applications. He joined IST after leading development projects at Hughes Network Systems Inc in the US and Smith Associates Ltd in the UK. A graduate with a double First from St John's College at Oxford University, Martin was awarded his doctoral degree from the Department of Engineering Science at Oxford University.

John Landwehr
Director, Security Solutions & Strategy, Adobe Systems, Inc.

As Director of Adobe’s Security Solutions and Strategy group, John Landwehr is responsible for overseeing the company’s enterprise information assurance solutions for securing the entire information lifecycle. He has held positions at NeXT, Apple Computer, and Gemplus, and his experience includes application servers, smart cards, virtual private networks, digital signatures, as well as rolling out a large credit card project. A popular speaker at industry and government conferences, Mr. Landwehr is a recognized expert in information security. He has presented testimony to the United States Congress on electronic commerce and security issues, is a Board of Directors member of the San Francisco Bay Area Infragard Chapter, a board member of the Enterprise Authentication Partnership, a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and a graduate of Northwestern University.

Gord Larose
Senior Application Security Engineer, Cloakware

Gord Larose is an established expert on Digital Rights Management technology. After founding a DRM company that was ahead of its time, and consulting in the field, he joined Cloakware in 2004, applying his expertise on a “who’s who” list of major software and device developers implementing DRM.   His background includes hardware and software design, embedded systems, intellectual property, technical management, and software robustness. Gord is a Professional Engineer and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) who has several patents issued or pending related to DRM. He maintains the Web’s "DRM Dictionary" and is a sought-after author and speaker.

Richard Lee

Richard Lee, Managing Director of Samsung SDS, is in charge of the whole email systems and enterprise portals for over 40 Samsung companies. He is known to be one of the most experienced IT strategists with more than 20 year professional careers in Samsung. Prior to Samsung SDS, he worked for Samsung Electronics and Samsung Life Insurance. He initiated a lot of technology-driven challenging projects in Samsung such as Client/Server Computing, Groupware and Intranet. One of the latest is the DRM project for their email systems of more than 100,000 users and it became one of the largest and most successful Enterprise DRM reference sites ever since 2003. He is entitled to a Professional Engineer in IT and Information Systems Auditor by Korean government. He is a co-author of a book "Client/Server Computing and Intranet" published in 1999. He holds B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Dongguk University and Yonsei University respectively. Integration of Enterprise DRM with email; There should be a way to send any document securely via email. Samsung companies have deployed DRM for their email systems since 2003. The experiences, running DRM systems for more than 100,000 users, will be shared. Following issues are going to be addressed: user authentication, packaging point, security policy for each email message, performance and scalability. DRM was a quite new approach to information security when it was first deployed. Some statistics about usage pattern after DRM deployed will be discussed and some episodes maintaining such a new system for the last three years are going to be presented.

Angel Mehta

Angel Mehta is Chief Executive Officer of Sterling-Hoffman, a management consulting firm with over 200 employees that represents venture capital firms in matters of corporate development & executive search. Past Clients include leading venture firms such as Bain Capital, Draper-Fisher-Jurvetson, Battery Ventures, and many others. Angel is also editor-in-chief of the Sterling Report, a monthly journal for investors, entrepreneurs, and CEOs in the software industry. Prior to Sterling-Hoffman, Angel worked in Business Development with Siebel Systems. In 2001, he founded 'The Enlightenment Project', an essay competition designed to help teach poor children in rural areas of third world countries how to think and develop as leaders. He has a Bachelor of Arts from York University in Toronto and is a frequent guest lecturer at business schools and conferences across North America.

David Nagel

David Nagel was most recently president and chief executive officer of PalmSource, Inc., a leading provider of operating system software platforms for smart mobile devices.   Prior to PalmSource, Nagel was the chief technology officer at AT&T and president of AT&T Labs.   Before joining AT&T, Nagel was senior vice president at Apple Computer, where he headed the advanced technology group and then led the worldwide research and development group, responsible for all Macintosh hardware and software products. Prior to Apple, Nagel had a long career at NASA’s Ames Research Center where he was head of human factors research.   He is the Co-Author and Editor (with Earl Wiener) of Aviation Human Factors, published by Academic Press.   Nagel has served on a number of national and international advisory committees, among them NATO’s Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development and more recently the first President’s Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC), on which he served five years for President William Clinton.    Nagel is a member of the board of directors of Leapfrog, Inc. (LF), Tessera, Inc. (TSRA), ArcSoft, and Epocrates, Inc., and serves on the board of Trustees of the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) at University of California, Berkeley, and the SETI Institute.   He also was named a member of the UCLA Sciences Board of Visitors, an advisory group for the physical and life sciences at UCLA and the Board of Visitors for the School of Computer Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering and a Ph.D. in perception and mathematical psychology, all from UCLA.

Masa Narita
Senior Vice President and Chief Representative, Nikko Cordial Securities Inc.

Mr. Masa Narita is Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning Division and Chief Representative at the New York Representative Office of Nikko Cordial Securities Inc. ( www.nikko.co.jp ). He is responsible for strategic business development in US operation since March 2005. Before taking current assignment, Masa was Chief Representative at the San Francisco Representative Office of Nikko Systems Solutions, Ltd., IT arm of Nikko Cordial Group. Masa has more than 15 years of experience in researching financial IT technologies. Prior to joining Nikko, Masa served as system engineer of satellite communications antenna control systems at NEC Corporation. He designed several custom LSIs, electronic/electric circuit boards with Z80 CPUs for de-icing control systems of large 32m parabolic antennas. Masa has a Bachelor of Electric/Electronic Engineering degree at Nagoya University in Japan.

Over the last 20 years Jim has been primarily involved with live interactive distance learning, corporate video production, multimedia engineering and facility design. Focusing on launching live “virtual classroom” programs for multinational corporations, Jim has consulted and managed programs with Fortune 500 corporations, government institutions, educational organizations, satellite distributors and Internet service providers around the world. Bill Rosenblatt
Editor, DRM Watch

Bill Rosenblatt is a recognized authority on digital media technologies, including content management, digital rights management, cross-media publishing, and content production systems, as well as on issues related to intellectual property in the online world.   He has written several articles and contributed to technology standards initiatives in these areas, and he is the author of Digital Rights Management: Business and Technology (John Wiley & Sons) and managing editor of the Jupitermedia newsletter DRM Watch. He was one of the architects of the Digital Object Identifier, an emerging standard for online content identification and digital rights management. Before founding GiantSteps, Bill was Chief Technology Officer of Fathom, a knowledge destination web site for lifelong learners sponsored by Columbia University, the London School of Economics, Cambridge University Press, the New York Public Library, and other scholarly institutions. Bill defined Fathom’s content and e-commerce technology architecture and built its technology infrastructure. Bill’s publishing industry experience includes stints at McGraw-Hill and Times Mirror Co. (now part of Tribune Co.).   Before joining Fathom, he served as VP of Technology and New Media for McGraw-Hill's trade magazine division, where he was responsible for implementing the business’ vertical market web portal strategy, including AviationNow.com, an information portal for the aviation industry. At Times Mirror, as Director of Publishing Systems, Bill implemented content management systems for many of Times Mirror's newspaper, book, and professional information publishing businesses, and helped develop the editorial system architecture for MDConsult, a web service for physicians. At Sun Microsystems, Bill served as a technology strategy consultant to Sun’s major media and publishing customers and did business development for Sun's video server product line. Then, as Market Development Manager for Media, Entertainment, and Publishing, he defined Sun’s market strategy for the industry and built alliances with software vendors who serve it. His career in digital media began at Moody's Investors Service, the bond rating agency, where he developed a pre-web-era architecture for electronic publishing of Moody’s credit reports. In addition to Digital Rights Management: Business and Technology, he is an author of three technical books for the publisher O'Reilly & Associates, which have been translated into French and Japanese; and he was a contributor to the book Electronic Publishing Strategies, published by Pira International Ltd. in the UK.   He has been quoted in The New York Times, US News & World Report, Der Spiegel, The Globe and Mail, Australian Financial Review, Electronic Times (South Korea), Billboard, Editor & Publisher, Information Today, and on NPR's All Things Considered. He holds a B.S.E. with honors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, and he has had executive education at Harvard and University of Southern California business schools. Ray Zambroski, CEO of Essential Security Software, brings more than 12 years senior management experience in the creation, development, and marketing of emergent PC and web-based technologies. Prior to ESS, Zambroski was vice president of sales and marketing for Spinoza Technology. Zambroski led product development and partnership strategy for the first PC-based audio-visual management and control product. Prior to this, Zambroski was director of sales and marketing for GLIDES, an early developer of global Web content management tools.
